A Guest Post from Brad Buehler: I’ve Taken the PRG Class and/or Watched PRG Videos – Now What???
You’ve dedicated a week of your life to taking the live course or scheduled time and watched the videos on-line and now you are asking yourself, “Now what?” At this point, I suggest it is a great time to take a practice exam through ExamWare™. Ideally, you should set aside the time for a full six-hour, 100 question simulated exam; however, a three-hour, 50-question simulated exam will still provide you with a good starting point.
“Wait”, you say, “I know I don’t know enough at this point to take a practice exam!” That is quite alright, and it is precisely the reason you should take a practice exam. Taking a practice exam will provide you with a number of benefits:
- It will give you a baseline level of your current knowledge of and comfort with the material. You will be able to see how much information you have retained from the lectures, and this will help you determine how valid your personal assessment of your current knowledge is. At this point, you might be surprised that you retained more information than you thought, or vice versa!
- You will be able to analyze your test results by topic. This will allow you to identify areas of strength and weakness. You can then start to focus your studying on the topic areas where you need the most review.
- You will gain valuable experience answering questions. The more comfortable you become reading and answering the exam questions, the better. Gaining familiarity and comfort with the mechanics of a computerized-test will make the actual exam day less stressful because you will be accustomed to reading, researching and answering questions on a computer screen.
After the exam, you can start to focus your studying on a chapter-by-chapter review of your course notes and questions/answers or you can focus on the topics on which you need the most review. Whichever way you proceed after the exam, you will have one practice exam under your belt and a good feel for how much more studying you are in for.
